Multiple factors need to be considered when you’re planning the location of public charging infrastructure. These will inform decisions on the specification and scale of infrastructure needed, as well as pinpointing the best locations.
This section explores some of the key location factors that were highlighted during the stakeholder engagement activity conducted as part of the electric vehicle infrastructure programme. It also includes case studies of public charging infrastructure to suit specific locations and those using the chargepoints.
We acknowledge that selecting locations will also depend on other sections of this guidance, including integrating with other transport modes, community engagement and powering chargepoints.
