On 29 January 2025, Energy Saving Trust, in partnership with Scottish Futures Trust and Transport Scotland, hosted Scotland’s EV charging future at the Apex City Quay Hotel in Dundee. This “Meet the Buyer” event brought together public and private sector stakeholders to exchange insights and experiences on Scotland’s current and future public EV charging network.
The event opened with a keynote address from Cabinet Secretary for Transport, Fiona Hyslop, setting the stage for the day’s discussions. This was followed by a high-level update on the EV Infrastructure Fund (EVIF) program from Scottish Futures Trust.
We then had more in-depth EVIF updates from the leads of several of these projects, along with a ChargePlace Scotland transition update from Transport Scotland.
Attendees then delved deeper into EVIF project updates, presented by key project leads, and received an update from Transport Scotland on the ChargePlace Scotland transition.
In the afternoon, representatives from three charge point operators shared their perspectives on best—and worst—practices in charging infrastructure procurement and contract design.
The event concluded with an industry panel discussion, followed by closing remarks from Transport Scotland.
